Australia says it will continue with the roll-out of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine as there was no evidence of an association with blood clots. Some European countries have suspended the vaccine’s use though.
Denmark, Norway and Iceland have discontinued the use of AstraZeneca vaccine after there were reports of blood clots in some people who had been given the vaccine dose. Australian government stated those cases were being monitored and that the vaccine roll-out will not be paused. Australia’s Chief Medical Officer Paul Kelly stated that there was no evidence to suggest that the vaccine caused blood clots. Australia has vaccinated only around 150,000 individuals thus far… (Reuters, March 12, 2021)
